At Colorado Pack Company, we're passionate about the Mountains. We started our business because we wanted to share our love of Stewardship of the resources, using horse camping and packing with others. Our goal is to provide high-quality education and advice so that we can enjoy our equine partnerships to the fullest. Safely. We operate with the USDAFS VA 26-VI-11021306 CO OUT #0003748

We have a Educational experience while volunteering to clean up camps, clear trail through our USFS VA. All of our trips include some portion of service. We must care for our resources, this is a big part of our program.

Our Equines and participants must be a team, the right people, the right place, the right gear, with proper prep and skills can make for a great time. We focus on the team efforts learning skills to be successful with communication, observation, being present,

We work on keeping water off the trails. erosion is a serious trail degradation. Sometimes a little care and intention can keep water flowing in its natural path, and off the trails.

In the Mountains the tees fall and block the trails. Partnering with the USFS we help remove trail trees opening up the paths for all users. in 2025 we cut 96 trees off the Trails .

Lots of trash in the high country, every year we make it a point to get as much out as possible using our mules. It is very rewarding to remove the old trash and clean up the beautiful forests we all have the privilege to enjoy and steward for the next generations. 800 lbs packed out in 2026, AND there is more to do!!

Loading up trash from areas in the high country and hauling it out is one thing We love to do on a summer day!!

Experience Cross cut trail tree clearing , learn the ways to do this work in the Wilderness areas( no chainsaws allowed).

Enjoy the mountains with camp as the hub of our work!

Gabe is a fifth generation Colorado resident. Growing up on the Piedra river below Chimney Rock, in southwest Colorado, he grew up loving horses and the mountains. He has always looked to explore the next ridge and challenged himself in being free!
Over the years, getting into the back country has become a priority. Gabe, He takes Pride packing safely in, with folks, to enjoy a great EDVenture, This is what makes summer dreams come true.
He has been a leader and teacher throughout his life, safety always a priority. Equines are a risk, to teach others how to pack them for success is rewarding for Gabe. He has a Wilderness Survival Instructor Cert, and is a CO Licensed Guide.
Gabe tries to get 90 days on the horses each summer/fall season to clear trail, clean up camps, ride, fish, camp and eat well! He works for several outdoor recreation companies in the summer packing. Gabe and his family are active volunteer members of the San Juan Back Country Horsemen Chapter.
